On Tuesday, the US share market ended the day higher, with gains majorly helmed by consumer goods, consumer services, and technology sector. At the day closing, S&P 500 advanced 0.52%, Dow Jones Industrial Average surging 0.01%, and NASDAQ Composite index adding 1.21%.
The best performers on the DJI average index were Home Depot Incorporation, which added 4.93 points, or 1.76% up, trade at $285.58, Salesforce.com, surging 2.04%, or 5.04 points, to settle at $251.68 at the end, and Dow Incorporation advancing 0.98 points, or 1.96%, to close the session at 51.07.
Similarly, the top gainers on the NASDAQ composite were Marinus Pharmaceuticals which added 51.66% to trade at 3.200, Oasis Petroleum Incorporation gaining 28.34% to settle at 0.519 and Novus Therapeutics which surged a massive 192.88% to late trade at 1.1100.
Additionally, top performers on the S&P 500 index were Qorvo Inc adding 5.82% to trade at 129.99, Occidental Petroleum which surged 5.31% to settle at 10.71, and Alexion Pharmaceuticals Incorporation which advanced 6.31% to trade at 115.58.
Meanwhile, the worst performers on the Dow Jones Industrial Average included JP Morgan Chase & Co falling 3.19 points, or 3.11%, to close at 99.28, The Travelers Companies declining 2.02%, or 2.31 points, to 112.15, and Caterpillar Incorporation slumping 4.91 points, or 3.20%, to settle at 148.60 in late trade.
Similarly, the biggest losers on NASDAQ were Francescas Holdings shedding 22.19% to end the day at 3.94, 89bio Incorporation falling 17.17% to close at 30.44, and Nano X Imaging declining 22.78% to 38.00 in late trade.
At last, the worst losers on the S&P 500 consisting of Citigroup losing 6.94% to end at 44.81, Coty Incorporation slumping 6.19% to settle the day at 3.18, and Carnival Corp. which fell 10.76% to trade at 15.93 in late session.
Overall, gainers dominated the losers with 1454 advancing, 1367 falling, and 97 closings unchanged on the NYSE and NASDAQ stock exchange advancers and losers numbering 1666 to 1395 respectively, with 91 stocks settling unchanged.
