Unilever Renames “Gypsy Sauce” Amid Racism Romplaints

The UK-based goods firm, Unilever’s German food branch Knorr announced to rename its product gypsy sauce (or popularly known as Zigeuner) as Hungarian style paprika sauce. The move is the effect of the company facing several complaints against the product’s name being offensive.

The protests over the racism around the whole world are after the death of George Floyd, an African-American man, in police custody over a pitty crime, which has led several brands to drop derogatory names like Aunt Jemima Pancake mix, Unilever’s gypsy sauce, and Eskimo Pie ice cream.

Earlier, the company also changed its skin lightening cream’s name and ditched the “fair” word from its product, fair & lovely.
