On Thursday, the UK share market settled the day higher at the close, with FTSE 100 gaining 0.53%. Oil & gas producers, aerospace & defense, and fixed-line telecommunication were the significant sectors propelling gains at the end in London.
The top performers on the index were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. gaining 10.26% or 10.00 points to settle the day at 107.50, Meggitt PLC rising 5.97% or 17.60 points to late trade at 312.30, and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC which added 24.70% or 38.70 points to end the day at 195.35.
Similarly, the worst performers on the UK 100 were DS Smith PLC which fell 3.33% or 10.30 points to settle the day at 298.90, Mondi PLC which shed 2.61% or 44.00 points to trade at 1639, and Hargreaves Lansdown which slumped 4.63% or 73.50 points to late trade at 1514.50.
Overall, rising shares dominated the falling ones by 1391 to 795, with 178 not changing at the London stock exchange.
Meanwhile, in commodities trading, gold December futures plunged 0.18% or 3.45 points to trade at $1887.35 per ounce. Crude November delivery surged 3.25%, and Brent December contracts gained 3.29%.
