Uber starts medicine delivery services in South Africa

In an effort to expand its business and cater to the larger number of people requiring delivery of medicines on time, the South African unit of the Uber Eats expanded its delivery services in the medicine domain.

It will serve over the counter medicines for which it launched an app on Thursday. The company aims to grip the market share of the fastest growing online delivery sector.

Interestingly, the US-based company already has USD 600 million food delivery business in the industrialised economy of South Africa. Currently, the medicines delivery market is well captured and controlled by pharma chains like Dis-Chem and Clicks. These have been rendering their service long before the COVID-19 affected the market.
