Encashing on the opportunity, Nvidia Corp is set to buy chip designer Arm (UK based) from SoftBank Group Corp, Japan for a whopping rate of $40 billion. The company wants to reshape its global semiconductor landscape, it said in a statement on Monday.
The sale will monopolise the market further for the supplier of industry greats like Apple and other across businesses. Rivals of Nvidia would be forced to step back from their market.
Notably, on the other side, Softbank would be registering its early exit from Arm after acquiring it for $32 billion four years back. The bank is slashing the stake to raise funds.
Interestingly, by market capitalisation, Nvidia is the biggest chip company in the US.
