Wednesday spelt a cast for the social media giant Facebook when it bagged elementary approval settling a lawsuit alleging that the company illegally gathered and hoarded biometric data of millions of users negating their consent.
In relation to the lawsuit, Mark Zuckerberg founded company raised its settlement offer in July from existing 100 million USD to 650 million USD. Interestingly, users of Illinois had cast blame for violating their privacy.
The reclamation of the settlement agreement gave respite to the concerns of the court that led to the preliminary approval coming FB’s way (class action settlement). James Donato, the judge at the US District Court, ruled this out after the hearing.
