What can be called an unprecedented step in the history of Wall Street bank, the Citigroup appointed Jane Fraser, the consumer banking head as the chief executive officer on Thursday.
She would be the first woman ever to head a big Wall Street bank. Jane, 53, has a career span covering coveted positions including wealth management, investment banking, resolving troubled mortgages, and employing strategic in Latin America, one of the most important geographical areas for the bank.
Fraser would be replacing the current CEO Michael Corbat in February 2021. Corbat characterised her appoint as path-breaking and pride for the group. Interestingly, the Citigroup has a few women at the top ranks.
