On Wednesday, Canada equities share market ended the day 0.78% lower as the losing sectors, consumer staples, consumer discretionary, and IT, majorly dragging the index lower.

The best performers on the index were First Quantum Minerals gaining 1.19 points, or 9.09%, closing the session at 14.28, Enerplus Corp., which added 0.18 points, or 7.14%, to trade at 2.70 in the late session, and Vermilion Energy which advanced 0.43 points, or 11.14%, to settle at 4.29.

Similarly, the worst performers on the S&P/TSX Composite include Shopify Incorporation which shed 60.37 points, or 4.92%, to trade at 1166.53 in late sessions, BRP Incorporation, which fell 4.80%, or 3.41 points, to close the day at 67.56, and OceanaGold declining 0.110 points, or 3.83%, to trade at 2.760.

Despite the fall, gainers outnumbered the losers with ration 570 to 481, and 124 remaining unchanged on the index. The US dollar index futures traded at 93.195, or 0.12% up. Meanwhile, CAD/EUR and CAD/USD gained 0.5% and 0.13% to trade at 0.6433 and 0.7592, respectively.

In commodities industry, gold and crude both rose, with WTI gaining 5.15%, Brent adding 4.44%, and gold December futures advancing 0.01%.
