Canada market ends higher at close S&P TSX Composite up 1.27

On Monday, the Canadian stock market ended the day 1.27% higher, with Energy, Clean Technology, and healthcare shares dragging the S&P/TSX Composite up at the close in Toronto.

The top performers on the index were New Gold Incorporation which surged 11.69% or 0.270 points to settle the day at 2.580, Seven Generations Energy Ltd rising 10.03% or 0.35 points to trade at 3.84 in the late session, and Aphria Incorporation which added 13.80% or 0.810 points to settle the day at 6.680.

Similarly, the worst performers on the S&P/TSX Composite were Allied Properties REIT losing 2.06%, or 0.75 points to trade at 35.65, Teck Resources Ltd B which shed 2.53% or 0.48 points to trade at 18.48 in the late session, and Westshore Terminals Investment Corporation slumping 2.16% or 0.33 points to settle the day at 14.93.

In total, gainers dominated the losers by 777 to 282, with 107 tradings unchanged on the exchange. Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index futures traded at 93.493, down 0.44%. CAD/USD and CAD/EUR slumped 0.32% and 0.26% to trade at 0.7538 and 0.6395, respectively.
