Australian stocks close high at day's end

Gains in Resources, A-RIETs and Energy sectors boosted Australian stocks to close on a high on Thursday. These domains pushed the overall index to end at the top. They took share prices to the hilt.

Hitting a six months’ high, the S&P/ASX 200 (Sydney), harnessed a gain of 0.50 per cent.

Whitehaven Coal Limited remained the top performer of the session on S&P/ASX 200. At the day’s end, it traded to 1.060 after witnessing a rise of or 11.58 per cent. On the other side, Pro Medicus Ltd ended the day at 31.23 after adding 2.22 points, which is a gain of 7.65 per cent.

Meanwhile, AP Eagers ended the day at 11.88 after surging by 0.68 points. It was up by 6.07 per cent in the late trade.

Zip Co Limited remained the worst performer of the day which lost 0.57 points and closed at 7.01, a loss of 7.52 per cent. Nearmap Limited fell by 0.160 or 5.95 per cent to 2.530. Likewise, Idp Education Ltd slipped to 18.93, which is a loss of 1.22 points or 6.55 per cent decline.

However, there were more rising stocks compared to the ones in red on the Sydney Stock Exchange.
